5-Step body skincare routine for winter

Winter can be harsh for everyone; it doesn’t distinguish between skin types. If you think that it only targets people with dry skin, we would like to correct you here. This season doesn’t spare anyone, it affects everyone equally. However, your skincare routine can make a huge difference to your skin. The stronger your skincare routine, the lesser your skin gets affected by winter. Although your skin needs to be cared for pretty much all the time throughout the year, it needs extra attention and pampering in winter, which is justified considering your skin becomes extremely dry in winter. But this care shouldn’t be limited to your face only; the rest of your body gets equally affected by winter and bears the brunt of it.
Dealing with dry, parched, and flaky skin can be a frustrating feeling; however, by building a proper skincare routine for your body, you can achieve soft and supple skin in no time. Just for your convenience, we have formed a 5-step body skincare routine for you that will keep your skin soft and supple throughout winter.

Step 1- Cleanser

The first step of every skincare routine should be cleansing. And when it comes to purchasing a cleanser for your body, you shouldn’t rely on the shower gel that helped you get through hot and sweaty summer, for winters, you need a moisturizing body wash that won’t rob your skin of moisture. Look for a body wash with creamy and milky formula so that your skin feels soft and supple all day long.

Step 2- Exfoliation

No skincare routine is complete without including the exfoliation step. And by now, you all must know how important it is to exfoliate your skin regularly. Don’t restrict yourself to exfoliating your face only; the rest of your body needs to be exfoliated as well. Dry skin is much more susceptible to accumulating dead skin cells on the body, and since winter makes almost every skin type pretty dry, you should indulge in regular exfoliation to eliminate dead skin cells from the body. Exfoliating your skin regularly will help to make it feel soft and glowing. Also, don’t exfoliate your body more than twice a week.

Step 3- Moisturize

Just like your face, your body also needs to be moisturized daily in order to keep it nourished. This is where body lotion comes into the picture, instead of using the lightweight summer body lotion; invest in body lotions that are thicker and creamier in formula. As soon as you step out of the shower, apply the body lotion to your body while it’s still slightly damp. This will help to seal the moisture in your skin, which will keep your body moisturized for long. You can apply the lotion to your body twice a day to keep dryness and flakiness at bay.

Step 4- Hand cream

Your hands are one of the most ignored parts of your body, and they need as much care and attention as the rest of your body. Winter can easily take a toll on your hands; it leaves them pretty rough and dry. One of the most effective ways to keep your hands from turning dry and rough is by applying nourishing hand cream. You can apply the cream several times a day and even after washing your hands.

Step 5- Footcare

Dry and cracked heels are petty common in winter, and this can make anyone feel a bit annoyed. The only way to keep your feet from getting dry and cracked is by taking proper care of them. Moisturizing is one of the main keys to soft and smooth feet. Aside from washing your feet daily using a moisturizing body wash, you can apply foot cream or vaseline to your feet.
