The outcomes always depend on the kind of effort you have put in and the ways you have used, and this applies to your skincare as well. If you aren’t doing things the right way, you certainly shouldn’t expect great results.

While there’s no running from aging as it is a natural process, you definitely can prevent premature aging or delay the process by adopting good skincare habits and caring for your body the right way. Thus, if you don’t want your skin to age faster, you need to say goodbye to these every day habits.

Skipping SPF

What would it take for you to realize that your skin without a layer of SPF is prone to getting sun-damaged? SPF is probably one of your best chances at protecting your skin against the harmful UV rays. It’s imperative to wear an SPF daily to not only protect your skin from the sun’s wrath but also prevent photoaging. Other than that, failing to wear your sunscreen can lead to issues like discoloration, sunburn, sunspots, etc. Therefore, you should always wear your sunscreen year-round regardless of whether you are at home or outdoors.

Using abrasive scrubs

While exfoliating is really necessary to keep your skin looking soft, smooth and glowing, it’s essential to use the right kind of scrub for this job as the wrong one can do more damage to your skin than doing any good. Certain scrubs are known to contain harsh ingredients such as walnut shells, coffee granules, and even sugar, they can cause your skin to age faster. These abrasive ingredients lead to tears in the skin, thereby making your skin appear wrinkly and saggy. In addition to that, you should avoid over-exfoliating your skin; it can also accelerate the aging process.

Regular consumption of alcohol

Did you know drinking alcohol regularly can cause your skin to age faster than it should? Well, if this was a new discovery to you, we have officially alarmed you. The next time you plan to drink alcohol, you will have to think twice now unless you are completely fine with the idea of premature aging. Alcohol leaves your body extremely dehydrated, and since dehydration is one of our skin’s worst enemies, too much of alcohol doesn’t work well for your skin, and hence it leads to premature aging of the skin. If you can’t completely give up drinking, you should limit it at least and make sure to drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated after drinking.

Eating too much sugar

Some people just cannot do without sugar, and if you also have a sweet tooth, then you have got a problem here. Too much sugar is never good for your skin; in fact, it can lead to premature aging of the skin. Therefore, you should reduce your daily sugar intake and try including more veggies and freshly squeezed juices in your diet to keep your skin youthful and healthy.

Not getting plenty of sleep

Not getting enough hours of sleep can work against your skin; apart from making your skin look tired, it can also accelerate the aging process. It’s essential to get at least 8 hours of undisturbed sleep every day, but if you aren’t taking your beauty sleep, you are only inviting more troubles for you. Lack of sleep not only affects your brain functioning but also makes your skin age faster, therefore, you should try sleeping early to ensure you are getting 8 hours of sleep every day.
