Hair care mistakes that are messing up your mane game

Every person has different reasons to love or not to love the summer season. If you ask for the pros, we have plenty of things to list, right from wearing the cutest, comfy summer clothes to basking the sun at the beach, there are so many good things summers come with but we also cannot forget about its downside. If there’s anything that suffers the most during summers, then it’s our skin and hair. All that sweat, grime, dirt can make our skin to react adversely and that further leads to a breakout. When it comes to our skin, we do everything in our power to keep it clean, healthy and beautiful, even if it means changing your skincare products and routine. However, when it comes to our hair, we pay zero to minimal attention to it and that leads to our hair looking crazy, dry and coarse.
To make sure that summers don’t end up messing your hair game, make sure that you aren’t making these hair care mistakes to keep your mane looking healthy, shiny and silky soft.

Exposing your hair to UV rays

We all know how harsh UV rays can be for our skin but it can also be equally harmful for your hair as well. If you mistakenly thought that your hair can actually bear those harsh UV rays then it’s time you clear that confusion of yours. Overexposing your hair to the sun can cause extreme damage to your hair and that’s not just it, it can also fade the color of your hair on which you probably spent a bomb. In order to keep that from happening, you can use a hat or scarf to cover your hair.

Subjecting your hair to chlorinated water

Summer is the best time for anyone to enjoy the water in the swimming pool. It is the easiest way to cool yourself off and get away with that unbearable summer heat. Mostly, the swimming pools are infused with chlorine and that chemical can be damaging for your hair. And if you don’t want that to happen, then every time you have to take a dip in the pool, make sure to rinse your hair with clean water first, then after enjoying your pool session, again rinse your hair as well as your entire body with clean water.

Overwashing your hair

We understand that summers make our hair extremely greasy and oily in no time, but that doesn’t mean you will wash your hair every day. This is one of the silliest mistakes you can make with your hair. Washing it on a daily basis can strip your hair of natural oils and that can easily make it very dry, rough and damaged. Washing it two to three times a week is an ideal thing to do. And on days, when your hair is appearing too greasy and oily, you can make use of dry shampoo that will make your mane looking fresh and bouncy all over again.

Tying your hair tight

High ponytails and topknot buns might be our go-to hairstyle during summers but if they have been worn too tightly then it can cause damage to your hair, let alone the headache part. All that pulling can put a lot of pressure on the scalp and it can make your hair very fragile which further can result in hair fall. Instead of pulling them into a topknot or high ponytail, try creating other hairstyles such as loose braids, low bun or anything that feels convenient to you.

Not oiling your hair

Just because winters are over, it doesn’t mean you will stop treating your hair with utmost care. A good oil massage can work wonders for your hair. It keeps your mane nourished and well-fed which further stimulates hair growth and keeps it looking healthy, lustrous and softer. Before every hair wash, make sure to give your hair a good oil massage and keep it on for about 15-30 minutes before finally washing it off.
