Hair oiling is very important for healthy and strong tresses. We all are aware of the benefits of hair oiling but the majority of us are not doing it correctly. Oiling your hair regularly and properly can make a huge difference in the quality of your hair. Most of the hair care issues can be resolved by just following a proper and correct hair oiling regime and nothing else.

So, if you want to know what are the correct steps that you should follow while oiling your tresses read till the end! Make sure you follow these steps at least once a week.

Choosing the Correct Oil

The biggest mistake we all do is picking the wrong carrier oil or picking up any random hair oil. There are various hair oils depending on your hair type so you should choose accordingly.

Applying any random hair oil will not give you the desired results. If you have greasy and oily scalp we would suggest you pick light hair oils such as Olive Oil, Almond Oil, and Coconut Oil. However, if you have dry scalp opting for heavy oils would be better. And, heavy oils are Mustard Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Avocado Oil.

Adding An Essential Oil

Another most common mistake we all do is just applying the carrier oil straight to your scalp and hair edges. You must add essential oil to your carrier oil to boost the strength of it.

There are different essential oils depending on the type of hair and scalp you have so choose accordingly. If you have irritated, flaky, and dandruff-prone scalp you should pick Tee-Tree Oil. And, if you have normal scalp you can opt for any of these

• Sandalwood Oil

• Rose Essential Oil

• Lemon Essential Oil

• Lavender Essential Oil

Keep in mind that you have to add only 2-3 drops to the carrier oil.

Adding Natural Ingredients

This step is optional but if you have damaged hair you can choose to follow the step.

Once, you have added essential oil to the carrier oil one more thing you can add to your hair oil is the natural ingredients that are readily available in your kitchen.

• Fenugreek Seeds

• Black Seeds

• Gooseberry Powder

But if you’re adding any of this to your hair oil you have to add a week before applying the oil. So, the benefits of the ingredients get fully immersed in the hair oil.

How –

• Take an air-tight empty container or jar.

• Add about 50 g of carrier oil in the jar and a few drops of your essential oil.

• For instance, you picked fenugreek seeds, now you have to add one tablespoon of fenugreek seeds into the mixture,

• Store it for about one week

• And, after one week strain the oil and it’s ready to be used.

Massaging

The next step comes massaging the oil into your scalp. Give your scalp a good 5-minute massage so that the blood circulation increases and the roots get strengthened.

Steam

Giving your hair, steam is very important. Once, you have applied oil to your hair, wrap a hot towel around the hair and keep it for about 30 minutes. It will ensure that the oil fully penetrates deep inside the roots of your hair. Also, steaming helps in making your hair manageable and frizz-free.

Now, tie your hair in a loose braid and keep the oil into your hair overnight. Braid will just ensure your hair remain tangle-free. Next morning, rinse your hair with mild shampoo and cold water.
