Easy and effective ways to make your curls last longer

We girls are quite fond of having curled hair but when it comes to making them stay for a longer time that can turn out to be quite a bummer or an extreme failure. Especially for girls who have extremely silky, smooth and straight hair. They just don’t stay in place for more than an hour or two and we just hate that feeling quite honestly. However, there are a few tips and tricks that you can follow in order to make them last for a longer period without being worried about them falling out of place.

Skip the conditioner

Conditioner has this amazing property of making your hair look and feel smoother and silkier but that may not come to use when you are thinking of styling your hair in curls. It makes your hair way too soft and slippery which makes it difficult for the curls to stay in place for a longer period. Excess silkiness and softer hair is one of the main reasons for them falling out. So it’s always best to skip on the conditioner whenever you are planning on curling your hair.

Wash your hair 2-3 days ahead of curling it

We know this may sound bizarre to some but it’s actually the best thing to do if you are planning on curling your hair. Although having clean and fresh hair is a great feeling but that may not prove to be the smartest choice as curls tend to hold better in dirty hair than the freshly cleaned ones. Reason being the natural oils that start getting produced in your hair provide the curls a better hold and maskes them stay for a longer duration.

If your hair have started to look oily, you can use a dry shampoo over those areas that need some washing. A dry shampoo will instantly absorb all the excess oil without any hassle.

Apply the right hair products

There are some hair products that will definitely help you in making your curls last longer. While styling your hair is a great way to enhance your look, however, it may also cause some damage to your hair in the process. It’s always advisable to use a heat protectant before styling your hair as it minimizes the chances of damage due to all the heat exposure. After doing the curls, the next step is to set them using a hair spray. It allows them to stay in place for a longer period and make sure your style doesn’t get ruined. You can use it before, in between and after curling your hair.

Use the right curling tool

We can’t solely blame our sleek straight hair for not being able to hold curls in place. Sometimes the wrong hair tool can also be held responsible owing to their cheap quality. If you are thinking of investing in a curling tool, it’s better you splurge on a high-end tool instead of those cheap ones. It will definitely save you a lot of time, and little stress over getting those curls right.

Use a setting spray

And the last and final step is to apply a setting spray to your curled hair to lock them in for a longer period. Invest in a good setting spray and you are good to go without getting worried about your curls falling out. You can also pick a setting spray that comes with heat protectant property.
