Simple yet effective ways to deal with dark circles

Almost every skin woe comes with a way or ways to deal with it, some issues can be fixed permanently, and then there are some that can only be managed but not fully cured, and dark circles are one such issue. Essentially, dark circles are considered a result of a serious lack of sleep, but in some cases, it could also be a result of a genetic issue. Some people tend to have high melanin content than others, and this could be one of the reasons you have dark circles, and no matter what you do, they just don’t go away. High melanin content means increased pigmentation and genetically-disposed shadowing, which make it impossible to cure dark circles permanently unless you are opting for expensive clinical treatments that come with their own set of downsides. But you shouldn’t lose your hope and give up. Just because your dark circles cannot be fully cured, it doesn’t mean they cannot be managed, they certainly can be dealt with in a wholesome way.

Listed below are a couple of simple yet effective ways to deal with circles and make them more manageable.

Use a retinol-based product

The skin around our eyes becomes thin overtime, and that is one of the reasons for the prominent appearance of dark circles. The best way to deal with this issue is by using a retinol-based skincare product, retinol does an excellent job of boosting collagen production in the skin, which in turn, makes the area feel firm and volumized. Additionally, increased collagen level in your skin further helps in boosting your protective barrier, thereby keeping your skin protected from external aggressors.

Work on your sleeping pattern

A lack of proper sleep is one of the main causes of dark circles. Noticing puffiness and shadowing on your face in the morning suggests you haven’t had a good night’s sleep, and therefore, your sleeping pattern is to be blamed here. Aside from ensuring to get 7-8 hours of good night’s sleep, you should also work on your sleeping habits. Sleeping on your sides or stomach can lead to accumulation of fluid around your eyes, leading to puffiness and dark circles. Therefore, you should try sleeping on your back always and use two or more pillows in order to avoid the accumulation of fluid in your eye area. Additionally, you should put your phone aside at least 15 minutes before going to bed.

Use skin brightening ingredients

Another great way to deal with your stubborn dark circles and make them more manageable is by including brightening ingredients in your skincare routine. Ingredients like licorice extract, vitamin C, kojic acid, niacinamide, etc. helps in getting rid of hyperpigmentation. You can add these ingredients in the form of eye creams, serums, moisturizers, lotions, etc., using them regularly can help reducing discoloration in your under-eye area.

Use a massage in treatment at night

If you have ever checked the ingredients in your skincare products, you would have noticed that your nighttime skincare products contain more active ingredients, and that’s because your body tends to be in repair mode while you are asleep, which is why your skincare products work better at night and help fix the issues more quickly. You can apply a massage in treatment under your eyes at night before going to bed.

Use SPF and caffeine-based products

It’s essential to use SPF daily for multiple reasons, while the main reason is to protect your skin against harmful sun rays, another reason is to reduce the pigmentation in your skin, therefore, you should use it daily. Additionally, you should consider using caffeine-based eye creams; they not only depuff your eye area but also fortify your skin.
