Daily habits that are making your oily skin oilier

Dealing with oily skin can be a nightmare for everyone. While it may come with its own set of very few advantages but that doesn’t hide the fact that it can also end up ruining your face completely if you aren’t careful about certain things. Oily skin is always extremely prone to getting acne, one simple mistake and it can result is nasty pesky pimples on your face the next morning. You have to play very safe with oily skin and give it no chance to react adversely. Besides the constant fear of getting a pimple, there’s another thing that can be a headache and that is excessive oiliness. Looking for ways to combat oiliness is a good thing but as long as you are following a few everyday habits that are causing your oily skin to become oilier, there’s nothing that can save your skin but you.
We have listed a few daily habits that can be the cause of your skin becoming oilier and how you can avoid making these mistakes.

Washing your face more than twice a day

Washing your face is a good habit especially when you have oily skin but this doesn’t mean that you will overdo this part. All the oil produced by your skin may get you tempted to wash your face off but you shouldn’t do it more than twice a day. This may temporarily help you to eliminate greasiness but it won’t help you in the long run, in fact, it is going to aggravate your problem and make your oily skin appear oilier. The more you wash your face, the more your skin will be required to compensate for the loss of oil and in the process it will produce extra oil on your skin. You can wash your face twice a day and not more than that, also, pick an oil control facewash to help you get rid of excess oil, dirt and impurities as well.

Not applying the moisturizer

Skipping moisturizing your skin is the last thing you should be doing. While we understand that you may feel your skin doesn’t need to be moisturized because of how oily it is already but this is not how it works. Your skin works in a very typical manner, when it doesn’t get the required amount of moisture, it starts producing more oil on its own to compensate for the lack of hydration on your skin.
Therefore, you should never skip moisturizer, and look for it in a lightweight formula as the thicker formula can clog your pores which can further result in acne.

Exfoliating your skin too frequently

Exfoliation is an important part of skincare routine and it works incredibly well till the time you’re doing it the right way. The minute you get wrong here, you can end up putting your skin at so much risk not only in terms of excessive oil production but damage as well. Over-exfoliating comes with its own set of disadvantages, it not only results in excess oil production but it also leaves your skin sore, red, and irritated.
Exfoliation does help in getting rid of dead skin and other kinds of impurities that are clogged deep into the pores but this skincare step should only be done once a week and not more than that.

Not using the right products

One of the most important aspects of keeping your oily skin steer clear of oil and acne is to use the right products. If you go wrong here, this could result in your skin becoming oilier and not to mention, the increased chance of acne breakout. Therefore, always keep an eye on all the products you are using. Instead of using heavy moisturizers as they can clog your pores, use a lightweight moisturizer. And avoid using alcohol-based toner as it can make your skin dry which will make your skin to produce more oil to make up for all the loss. There’s another thing that you can keep in mind while looking for products, make sure that all the products you are buying are labeled non-comedogenic as they won’t clog your pores or cause an acne breakout.
